Financial Support to Student Organisations

There are two types of financial support to Student Organisations:

-          Student Activities Fund

-          Subsidies and Interest-free Loans for Student Organisations’ Activities

These financial supports aim at subsidizing meaningful and diversified activities organised by student organisations under the Students' Union at HSMC.  Student organisations should complete the Registration of Certificate of a Society issued by the Societies Office, Hong Kong Police Force and then open a Society’s bank account for fund transfer before the commencement of operation. No Joint Individual Savings Account will be accepted.


1.    Student Activities Fund

Student Activities Fund aims at subsidizing meaningful and diversified activities organized by student organisations under the Students' Union at HSMC.

2.    Subsidies and Interest-free Loans for Student Organisations’ Activities

  • The College is committed to provide advice and financial assistance to student organisations registered under the HSMCSU (hereafter registered student organizations) with an ultimate goal to assist student bodies to operate independently.

  • Registered student organisations shall complete the Registration of Certificate of a Society issued by the Societies Office, Hong Kong Police Force. 

  • Registered student organisations shall open a Society’s bank account for funds transfer before the commencement of operation. No Joint Individual Savings Account will be accepted. 

  • Registered student organisations, including HSMCSU, Student Associations and Student Clubs/Societies, are eligible to apply for subsidies and interest-free loans for organising student activities in the academic year. 

  • To apply for subsidies and interest-free loans for student activities, representatives of Student Associations and Student Clubs/Societies shall submit a detailed activity/event proposal to HSMCSU and the Sub-organization Committee of Union Council for recommendation, respectively. 

  • Should the activity/event be recommended by HSMCSU or the Sub-organization Committee of Union Council, the said application should be submitted to SAO for discussion in September, November, February and April to catch up with the SAC meetings to be held in October, December, March and May for prior approval. 

  • Should the said proposal be rejected by the HSMCSU/ the Sub-organization Committee of Union Council, Student Associations or Student Clubs/Societies may submit their written applications of appeal to the Secretary of the Student Affairs Committee by email or in person 7 working days in advance to the SAC meeting for further review and deliberation.
